Thomas W. Ryley, 87, born January 26, 1931 passed away on March 30, 2018. Resident of Baldwin and parishioner of St. Christopher’s RC Church for over 40 years. Tom received his BA & MA in Pol. Science from Rutgers Univ. and his PHD in History from NYU, also receiving the Founder’s Day Award. Tom served in the Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st LT and from the reserves the rank of Captain. He served as a professor of History at NYC College of Tech. for 37 years, achieving the rank of full professor and serving twice as Chairperson in the Soc. Science Dept. Upon retiring, Dr. Ryley taught at Molloy College as an adjunct professor of History for over 15 years. Tom served his community as a lector and usher at St. Christopher’s Church, president of the Baldwin Interfaith Conference, member Ethics Committee of S. Nassau Comm. Hosp., for many years president of Baldwin Council Against Drug Abuse and member of the Advisory Committee to S. Nassau Comm. Hosp. He found time to write 4 books, numerous articles and fulfill speaking engagements. Beloved husband of Mary. Loving father of Thomas (Jennifer), Christopher (Amanda) and Timothy (Lisa). Dear brother of Richard. Cherished grandfather of 6. Survived by his nephews, grandnephews and cousins. Reposing at the Fullerton Funeral Home, Inc., 769 Merrick Rd., Baldwin, NY. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday 10:00 a.m. at St. Christopher's Church in Baldwin. Interment at Greenfield Cemetery. Visiting Today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
