May 16, 1949 - February 5, 2021

Rita Claudette Laine left this Earth on Thursday, February 5, 2021, as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Her service legacy to others, love, laughter, and compassion for those around her live on through her family.

In the name of Allah, the merciful and most compassionate (Bismillahmanirrahim), we thank you for this woman we called Mommy. The Bible tells us that the Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it (Psalm 24:1). You have called your daughter, our mother, home to you.  As her family left on Earth continues her legacy, we want to share with all those who mourn her that:

Our mom was a gracious, private woman who valued her family above all.  It was her honor and pleasure to be our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She taught her children to practice self-care and protect those they love fiercely.  She was a woman of few words but showed such tremendous strength in her courage to successfully raise five children on her own after being widowed in 1990.

Her lessons of kindness and compassion were not lost on ANYONE who met her. Everyone received one of her bright and beautiful smiles. In her darkest hours, she was more concerned with the well-being of her children and grandchildren than herself.  We believe that good-bye really means “God be with you!”  She prayed over us every day and reminded us that all the glory belongs to God for his unwavering mercy.  She said, “Trust in the Lord and pour your heart before him, for he will carry you through this life.”

Our mother carried each of us and into this world and made our happiness and safety her priority.  She was our mother, our best friend, our peace, our joy, our heart, and the love of our lives.  As she enters the gates of heaven, smiling and giggling to join our father, we know her beauty, spirit, and courage will live on in her family forever.  We love you, Mommy, and thank you for this life you blessed us with and for being the best mom, anyone could ask for!
