Decius Ambroise ( most affectionately known as Dede) was the youngest of two children born to Lamercie Bouffant and Paule Emil Ambroise on December 1st 1931 in Leogane, Haiti. He was raised by his oldest sister Carmen Ambroise when their parents made their transition. His sister Carmen Ambroise proceeded him in death on May 21, 2005 at the age of 90 years old.
Dede left Haiti and came to the United States at the age of 35. He worked as a Pharmacist Assistant. Dede had a great love for life. He enjoyed taking long walks, talking about politics, spending time with family and friends, reading.
Dede and his sister Carmen who was more like a mother to him were very close. He and her often argued like most siblings but they loved each other unconditionally. After his sister made her transition he was not the same. He became a little depressed and kind of lost his will to live. He had a mini stroke in his sleep. Which slowed him down bit. Before then he would take trips to Brooklyn to visits his friends at the barber shop to argue and debate about politics. Those of you who know him know he was always ready to debate any issues he felt passionate about. He lived a very simple life. He laughed, loved and lived a wonderful life. But in the years after his sister died he lived and was very close to his niece Yolaine Vill "Lelene" who was taking care of him up until he made his transition on May 31, 2016. This date is very special to us as it was his sisters birthday. We feel that this was a very befitting day for him to pass and a message from his sister that it was time for him to come home and be with her and his parents.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his niece Yolaine Vill "Lelene" and her husband Roger Vill "Ti Roger" his two grand nieces Johanne Vill- Mitchell (her husband Glenn Mitchell) and Jennifer Vill (her husband Andrew DuBois) and his great grand nieces and nephew: Deja, Dymond & Destiny Mitchell, and Aviwe (Avi), Nandipha (Nandi), and Moyakhe (Yah) DuBois, and a host of friends.
